The peptide

Tetrapeptide-30: PKEK even-tone peptide for brighter-looking skin

Tetrapeptide-30 is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide with the sequence Pro-Lys-Glu-Lys (PKEK). Published keratinocyte and volunteer work reports that PKEK can reduce UVB-stimulated expression of inflammatory cytokines and of POMC, the precursor of α-MSH, with downstream effects on tyrosinase expression and the look of UV-associated pigmentation. Finished-formula use is cosmetic: more even-looking tone and a reduction in the appearance of pigment spots, not treatment of pigmentary disease.

Market context: the cosmetic market features branded actives that use Tetrapeptide-30. Formulate Labs sells only the INCI Tetrapeptide-30 raw material and does not sell those trade-name SKUs. TEGO® Pep 4-Even (Evonik) is a preservative-free glycerin/water solution of Tetrapeptide-30 at approximately 1600 ppm (0.16%) active, the same 1X loading we ship. Supplier and journal work positions PKEK for even-looking tone across Caucasian, Asian, and deeper Fitzpatrick phototypes, often alongside a vitamin C derivative such as sodium ascorbyl phosphate. Other catalog listings sell the same INCI as a powder or custom solution; we do not represent those brands.

We supply Tetrapeptide-30 as a finished aqueous suspension in two carriers - a 35% glycerin / water base for maximum formulation flexibility, or dosed directly into our single-origin Sea Kelp Bioferment. What it’s for
Cosmetic raw material - leave-on hair-care formulations (scalp serums, hair tonics, leave-on hair lotions, density-positioned conditioning treatments) at the use rates above; also acceptable in rinse-off cosmetic products and skincare formats where a peptide-based "supports the look of fuller hair" / scalp-comfort positioning is intended. Not a finished consumer product; not for ingestion, injection, or unsupervised topical use outside a formulated finished product.
Claims guidance
Cosmetic structure / function language only (e.g. supports a firmer-looking finish, supports a more lifted appearance). Avoid surgical lift language (“replaces facelift”, “treats skin laxity”). Do not make therapeutic claims. The peptide is studied in cosmetic in-vitro and panel work; downstream finished-product claims must be substantiated by the brand.

Sensitivity
Tetrapeptide-30 is generally well-tolerated in cosmetic use at the rates above; the supplier’s HET-CAM and AMES studies on the peptide indicate non-irritating and non-mutagenic behavior at industry-standard concentrations. The peptide is light-sensitive: store and ship in opaque containers, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in finished formulations. Avoid prolonged contact with strong oxidisers, sulfuric or phosphoric acids, acetic anhydride, sustained heat above 45 °C, and prolonged exposure to pH > 7.0 - any of these can hydrolyze the peptide and reduce in-formula activity. Patch-test finished formulations per standard cosmetic protocol.
