Unveiling Manganese Tripeptide-1: A Specialized Peptide for Advanced Skincare

Manganese Tripeptide-1 is primarily positioned within leave-on skin care formulations. Competitors and suppliers market this specialty mineral-complex peptide for its unique ability to target hyperpigmentation, setting it apart from actives primarily focused on tissue repair. It offers formulators a distinct option for advanced clinical serums and wellness-adjacent portfolios.

Market context: Manganese Tripeptide-1 is competitively positioned as a specialty mineral-complex alternative to Copper Tripeptide-1, uniquely marketed for targeting hyperpigmentation rather than exclusively focusing on tissue repair. Its marketing collateral targets premium formulation labs developing advanced clinical serums and wellness-adjacent portfolios that prioritize batch transparency and research-backed claims. Formulate Labs supplies the standardized INCI raw material, Manganese Tripeptide-1, and does not distribute competitor-branded trade-name SKUs such as Mn-GHK.

Formulate Labs offers Manganese Tripeptide-1 as a standardized 0.1% active in a glycerin suspension, simplifying integration into diverse cosmetic formulations. This pre-dispersed solution ensures ease of handling and consistent performance for formulators seeking high-quality raw materials.

Hair-care separation: Mn-GHK is not a hair-growth active like GHK-Cu. Its hair-care utility is limited to scalp antioxidant defense and theoretical preventative anti-graying via SOD upregulation — not density, anagen, or regrowth positioning.*

Published research

Peer-reviewed literature for due diligence.

Manganese Tripeptide-1 (Mn-GHK) is the manganese-chelated GHK carrier peptide — sister to Copper Tripeptide-1 — studied for Mn-SOD upregulation, UV photodamage reversal, and melanogenesis inhibition (Hussain & Goldberg, 2007; Badilli & Inal, 2025). These are independent, third-party papers we link for formulators evaluating mechanism, tolerability, and published panel data. We did not conduct this research and do not guarantee replication in your finished formula.

Formulation guide

Built for chemists who sweat the details.

Typical use rate
Active peptide concentration is typically <10 ppm; practical formulation inputs range from 1.0% to 5.0% using standard commercial pre-dispersed solutions.
Solubility
Hydrophilic; readily soluble in water and suitable for aqueous serums or the water phase of emulsions.
pH compatibility
Optimal stability is maintained at a neutral to slightly acidic pH (5.0–7.0) to prevent peptide degradation.
Add at
Incorporate during the cool-down phase (<40°C) to prevent degradation from prolonged heat.
Mixing
Disperse in water phase.
Avoid
Avoid strong acids, bases, and oxidizing agents; sensitive to prolonged heat and UV exposure.
Pairs well with
Not specified in report.
Self-preserving
Yes - 2% Linatural MBS-4. Boost preservation per your finished-formula needs

Documentation

Compliance & safety

The fine print, in plain English.

What it’s for
Cosmetic raw material for leave-on skincare where photodamage reversal, solar-lentigine / hyperpigmentation, or daily environmental antioxidant defense is intended (serums, treatment creams, SPF companions). Limited scalp use for antioxidant / anti-aging positioning only — not hair growth or density. Not a finished consumer product; not for ingestion, injection, or unsupervised topical use outside a formulated finished product.
Claims guidance
Cosmetic structure / function language only (e.g. supports a clearer-looking tone, helps reduce the appearance of UV-induced discoloration, supports antioxidant defenses). Do not position as Copper Tripeptide-1 or GHK-Cu — different metal, different mechanism. Do not use hair-growth or density claims — Mn-GHK lacks GHK-Cu follicle literature. Avoid melanogenesis drug language (“treats melasma,” “skin-lightening drug”). Downstream finished-product claims must be substantiated by the brand.
Storage
  • Store between 2-25 °C in original sealed container away from direct light.
  • Cold storage extends shelf life by ~50% relative to room temperature.
  • Once opened, use within the period stated on the COA.
Regulatory
  • INCI: Manganese Tripeptide-1 (per ICID and PCPC dictionary).
  • Not classified as hazardous based on currently available information per OSHA HazCom 2012 / GHS.
  • Compatible with FDA cosmetic regulations and EU 1223/2009 for the intended use.
  • SDS section 16 disclaimer applies; see the per-recipe SDS for the full classification.
Sensitivity
Manganese Tripeptide-1 is generally well-tolerated in cosmetic use at the rates above; the supplier’s HET-CAM and AMES studies on the peptide indicate non-irritating and non-mutagenic behavior at industry-standard concentrations. The peptide is light-sensitive: store and ship in opaque containers, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in finished formulations. Avoid prolonged contact with strong oxidisers, sulfuric or phosphoric acids, acetic anhydride, sustained heat above 45 °C, and prolonged exposure to pH > 7.0 - any of these can hydrolyze the peptide and reduce in-formula activity. Patch-test finished formulations per standard cosmetic protocol.
