Dipeptide-2: Advanced Peptide for Revitalized Eye Contours

Dipeptide-2 (INCI: Dipeptide-2), a bioactive peptide composed of valine and tryptophan, is strategically utilized in advanced anti-aging and eye-care formulations due to its unique physiological mechanism. Functioning as a natural inhibitor of the Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE), Dipeptide-2 effectively blocks the conversion of Angiotensin I into the vasoconstricting Angiotensin II. This action prevents capillary constriction, thereby enhancing microcirculation and stimulating the skin’s lymphatic drainage network. Such localized fluid movement is crucial for flushing out stagnant interstitial edema, making Dipeptide-2 a premier active for minimizing under-eye puffiness, dark circles, and visible signs of fatigue.

Market context: While competitive offerings like Eyeliss™ leverage Dipeptide-2 within synergistic complexes, and other suppliers market pre-mixed liquid solutions, Formulate Labs champions providing the pure Dipeptide-2 INCI material. This strategy empowers formulators with cost-effective sourcing and ultimate creative flexibility, allowing for tailored formulations without being tied to proprietary blends or specific carriers that Formulate Labs does not sell.

Formulate Labs provides Dipeptide-2 as a pure, high-potency lyophilized powder, offering formulators maximum control and cost-effectiveness. For ease of integration into liquid systems, we also offer Dipeptide-2 in a standard 0.1% glycerin suspension, ensuring excellent solubility and stability for your finished product.

We supply it as a finished aqueous suspension in two carriers - a 35% glycerin / water base for maximum formulation flexibility, or dosed directly into our single-origin Sea Kelp Bioferment. Both ship at the EYESerylTM-equivalent reference of 0.01% or our 10X lab concentrate at 0.1%.

Why formulators reach for it

A peptide with a long cosmetic-science track record.

Dipeptide-2 Reduces Under-Eye Puffiness
By enhancing microcirculation and stimulating lymphatic drainage, Dipeptide-2 actively flushes out stagnant fluid, significantly reducing visible puffiness around the eyes.
Dipeptide-2 Minimizes Dark Circles
The improved microcirculation and reduced fluid retention contribute to a visibly brighter and more even skin tone, diminishing the appearance of dark circles.
Dipeptide-2 Boosts Microcirculation
As an ACE inhibitor, Dipeptide-2 prevents capillary constriction, promoting healthy blood flow and nutrient delivery to the delicate skin around the eyes.
Dipeptide-2 Enhances Lymphatic Drainage
It stimulates the skin's natural lymphatic network, efficiently moving interstitial fluid to combat edema and signs of fatigue for a refreshed appearance.

Dipeptide-2 refers to the INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) name for the pure raw material, not a branded trade-name blend.

Published research

Peer-reviewed literature for due diligence.

Dipeptide-2 (EYESeryl) is a compact val-trp dipeptide cited in periorbital cosmetic literature for refreshed, less puffy-looking eye contours. These are independent, third-party papers we link for formulators evaluating mechanism, tolerability, and published panel data. We did not conduct this research and do not guarantee replication in your finished formula.

Formulation guide

Built for chemists who sweat the details.

Typical use rate
0.001%–0.01% (pure lyophilized powder); 2%–3% (pre-mixed 1,000 ppm liquid stock solution)
Solubility
Highly water-soluble; best incorporated via a water/glycol stock solution prior to main batch addition.
pH compatibility
Optimal stability and efficacy are maintained in slightly acidic to neutral environments between pH 4.0 and 7.0.
Add at
Add during the final formulation cool-down phase (< 40°C) and protect from prolonged light exposure.
Mixing
Incorporate into the water phase or as a pre-mixed water/glycol stock solution during the cool-down phase of the formulation process.
Avoid
Avoid strong oxidizing agents, extreme pH shifts, and hot emulsification due to its susceptibility to oxidation caused by the tryptophan residue.
Pairs well with
The provided research report does not suggest specific synergistic pairings for Dipeptide-2.
Self-preserving
Yes - 2% Linatural MBS-4. Boost preservation per your finished-formula needs

Documentation

Compliance & safety

The fine print, in plain English.

What it’s for
Cosmetic raw material - leave-on hair-care formulations (scalp serums, hair tonics, leave-on hair lotions, density-positioned conditioning treatments) at the use rates above; also acceptable in rinse-off cosmetic products and skincare formats where a peptide-based "supports the look of fuller hair" / scalp-comfort positioning is intended. Not a finished consumer product; not for ingestion, injection, or unsupervised topical use outside a formulated finished product.
Claims guidance
Cosmetic structure / function language only (e.g. supports a fresher-looking eye area, supports a less puffy appearance). Avoid lymphatic drug language (“treats edema”, “drains lymph medically”). Do not make therapeutic claims. The peptide is studied in cosmetic in-vitro and panel work; downstream finished-product claims must be substantiated by the brand.
Storage
  • Store between 2-25 °C in original sealed container away from direct light.
  • Cold storage extends shelf life by ~50% relative to room temperature.
  • Once opened, use within the period stated on the COA.
Regulatory
  • INCI: Dipeptide-2 (per ICID and PCPC dictionary).
  • Not classified as hazardous based on currently available information per OSHA HazCom 2012 / GHS.
  • Compatible with FDA cosmetic regulations and EU 1223/2009 for the intended use.
  • SDS section 16 disclaimer applies; see the per-recipe SDS for the full classification.
Sensitivity
Dipeptide-2 is generally well-tolerated in cosmetic use at the rates above; the supplier’s HET-CAM and AMES studies on the peptide indicate non-irritating and non-mutagenic behavior at industry-standard concentrations. The peptide is light-sensitive: store and ship in opaque containers, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in finished formulations. Avoid prolonged contact with strong oxidisers, sulfuric or phosphoric acids, acetic anhydride, sustained heat above 45 °C, and prolonged exposure to pH > 7.0 - any of these can hydrolyze the peptide and reduce in-formula activity. Patch-test finished formulations per standard cosmetic protocol.
